Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 11, 2026
SLASHTYPES ("the game", "we", "us") is a browser game available at slashtypes.com. This policy explains what information is involved when you play and what choices you have. In short: the game itself does not ask for your name, email or account, and your scores stay in your own browser.
1. Information stored on your device
The game uses your browser's local storage to remember:
- your settings (language, mode, gore level, sound, time-mode duration);
- your personal bests (score, WPM and kills);
- the display name you choose for multiplayer and leaderboards, if you enter one;
- your weekly leaderboard runs on this device and a random player ID.
This information never leaves your device and is not sent to us. You can delete it at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this website.
2. What you type
Your keystrokes are processed only inside your browser to run the game. We do not record, store or transmit what you type, except as described for multiplayer below.
3. Multiplayer
Multiplayer races connect two browsers directly using WebRTC through the PeerJS service:
- To create or join a room, your browser contacts the public PeerJS signalling server, which receives technical connection data such as your IP address and the room code.
- During a race, game events (for example "correct key", "typo" or "space") and the display name you chose are sent directly to your opponent's browser. As with any peer-to-peer connection, your opponent's browser can see your IP address.
- We do not store race data. When the race ends or you close the page, the connection is closed.
If you do not want to share this information, do not use multiplayer. Solo modes work without these connections.
4. Leaderboards
If you enter a name, your best run of the week can be submitted to the public weekly leaderboard. The submission contains the name you chose, a random player ID generated by your browser (used so that you appear only once per board), and your result (score, WPM, accuracy, kills, combo, rank, characters typed and run length). Leaderboard entries are public and stored in a database run by our hosting provider, Cloudflare. To stop spam, the server also keeps a one-way hash of your IP address (never the address itself) for up to one hour after each submission. Do not use your real name if you do not want it to be public. To have an entry removed, contact us with the name and the date of the run.
5. Third-party services
To load quickly, the game uses the following services, which receive standard technical data (such as your IP address and browser type) when your browser requests files from them:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com), for the game's typefaces. See the Google Privacy Policy.
- unpkg (unpkg.com), which delivers the PeerJS library when you open multiplayer.
- Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, which serves the website, may keep standard server logs (IP address, requested page, time) for security and reliability, and relays multiplayer traffic through its TURN servers when a direct connection is not possible.
6. Advertising
The game may show advertisements, including optional rewarded ads (for example, watching an ad to revive once). Advertising is provided by Google and its partners:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn more about how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before personalised ads or advertising cookies are used, and you can change your choice at any time.
7. Children
SLASHTYPES contains stylized violence and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the game, contact us and we will help remove it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to certain processing and to withdraw consent. Because the game keeps your data in your own browser, you can exercise most of these rights yourself by clearing your site data. For anything else, contact us using the address below.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game changes, for example when new features or advertising partners are added. The "last updated" date at the top shows when it was last revised.
